Pan-Arab satellite network Al Jazeera said it has been under continuous hacking attempts in the past few days but was able to protect its systems, reports Reuters.

  • The Qatar-based broadcaster said it experienced ‘’continued electronic attacks aimed at assessing, disrupting and controlling some of the news platforms” over the last weekend and into Tuesday this week

What they’re saying: The majority of the attacks came on Sunday, ahead of a documentary to be released on the broadcaster’s Arabic Youtube Channel detailing the indirect negotiations between Israel and Palestinian militant group Hamas, per NDTV.

  • “Al Jazeera condemns these cyberattacks and affirms its right to pursue legal recourse against the perpetrators,” the network wrote.

The other side: Al Jazeera refused to make any further comments when contacted, per Reuters. It has not issued any details of who the hackers were.

  • In 2017, four Arab states had boycotted the channel for its coverage of Middle East politics, reports Haaretz.

Of note: In December last year several Al Jazeera journalists were allegedly hacked by spyware developed by Israel’s NSO Group, reports the BBC.
