Covid-19: Deaths in 2nd wave cross 2 lakh at daily average of over 2,000

 



India recorded 91,870 new covid-19 cases and 1780 deaths yesterday as the caseload and death toll continues to reduce across the country, per the Times of India.

  • The official death toll for the 2nd wave has now crossed 2 lakh. Fatalities from the second wave now account for 57% of all Covid-19 deaths in the country.

  • Meanwhile, the positivity rate has been over 5% in 2 out of 5 districts in the country, per Mint. Tamil Nadu, Odisha, and Karnataka have the most number of districts with a positivity rate of over 5%.

  • Further, the report adds that 117 districts have a positivity rate of over 10% and 17 districts have a positivity rate over 20%, indicating that while the second wave is receding there is still a lot of time before the risk of infection has reduced.
